Research, a constant preoccupation

All development processes of generic drugs are conducted within the Research and Development Center, namely:

  • Pharmaceutical Development
  • Development of analytical methods, validation of analytical methods
  • Clinical testing – Phase I
  • implementation in the manufacture.

The R&D program is one of the main factors explaining the company’s dynamism, providing for sustainable growth by continuously renewing the portfolio of effective and safe generics and by optimizing and enhancing production technologies according to technical progress.
The team of over 70 specialists within the Centre for Research and Development is involved in pharmaceutical formulation, physical-chemical analyses, technology transfer, bioequivalence studies, regulatory affairs and pharmacovigilance. The knowledge and experience accumulated enable the development of future projects, oriented towards the patients’ health.

The upcoming portfolio of products manufactured by Antibiotice will be a mix between the traditional portfolio consisting of anti-infectives covering serious infections with resistant germs, as well as common infections; in addition, we intend to prepare a range of medicines for chronic non-communicable diseases (cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders, oncological disorders, digestive disorders).

At the same time we’ll continue the development of those topical formulations (i.e. ointments, creams, gels) which are highly recommended in the guidelines for certain diseases related with a considerable medical, social and economic impact (i.e. psoriasis or osteoarthritis / osteoarthrosis) since the benefit/cost ratio of certain topical forms of corticosteroids and NSAIDs is recognized in some cases because it offers the possibility of home treatment and considerably fewer days of hospitalization, and thus earlier recovery and restoring the patient to health.

Enhancing the quality of life is an area approached by Antibiotice in recent years, through a complex range of medicines for women’s health, as well as various food supplements and cosmetic products.
